6 Steps to Drinkable Water Without a Filter or Chemicals

If you need water to drink in a survival situation you just pull out your water filter, right?

But what if you don't have access to a filter or chemicals?

You can purify water with the sun!  Now, here is an important skill to have...

6 Steps to drinkable water (without a filter or chemicals):

1. Locate a clear plastic beverage bottle and turn it over.

2. Look for the 3 arrow recycle symbol with the number 1 inside it and marked PET– this means the bottle is appropriate for use in purification.

3. Collect some clear water with low sediment, and pour it in the plastic bottle.

4. Put the lid on it and shake it thoroughly.

5. Leave the plastic bottle in direct sunlight for six hours – longer if the water is cloudy or if the conditions are overcast.

6. After six hours in sunlight, you will have bacteria free water – the UV rays kill all of the harmful bacteria. Depending on where you sourced the water, this water should be drinkable. Keep in mind this "Sodis" method of water filtering doesn't remove chemicals or viruses, but in many cases those aren't the top concern in a survival water situation.

If the need presents itself, you should be able to find a clear water bottle.
