Survival Tip: Let There Be Light (and Heat)

Flashlights aren’t the only method of providing emergency light.

Candles, the centuries old standby, still have a valid place in your survival stockpiles.

Candles are dirt cheap, readily available, and can be bought in “hundred hour” and greater versions.

They’re great for keeping a low profile in your home, since they don’t project the same moving beam a flashlight does.

Alternatively, a single tiny candle can provide enough heat to keep a person alive.

Light one, and then sit cross legged in front of it.

Throw a poncho or blanket over yourself like a teepee, and let the candle do the rest.
